This sector bridges the gap between organisations, companies, products and brands and their intended target audience. Essentially, advertising and marketing are absolutely essential to the success (both commercial and financial) of any company.
It is practically impossible to go an entire day without seeing an advert, they are everywhere; in newspapers, magazines, on TV and on the internet. This is why we see many of the other nine media sectors having specialised branches of employment specifically designated to advertising and marketing. This is one of the smaller media sectors in the UK, employing around 17,000 people.
A list of jobs in this sector include:
- Campaign Managers
- Advertising Copyrighter
- Client strategist
- Graphic Designers
- Research Analysts
"We aim to achieve superb results every time, and
make your money work harder for you! Our marketing solutions are cost effective, creative and results driven, giving your company a realistic competitive edge within the marketplace."
A larger example of an advertising company would be BBDO. BBDO is the largest advertising company in the world and is based in New York in the United States. They have over 280 offices in 80 countries worldwide, employing a staggering 15,000 people, almost as many people are employed in the entire sector in the UK.
Most income generated within the advertising and marketing sector is contract/service based. For example, both of these companies will be drafted in by a company which wants an advert making, or a marketing campaign for a product.
